We managed to get a few questions across to the Boka/Orientis lads Killa & Instinct, to go along side their recent mix for Dubheadz, which is up for FREE download on our soundcloud (www.soundcloud.com/teamdubheadz) this is what they had to say……
So how did you guys come together to start producing and Performing as a duo?We had gone to school together, known each other for years, and we both had similar musical tastes, so Djing back to back allowed us to vibe off each other quite easily. When Dubstep first started coming about, we were part of a very small group of people Djing Dubstep in the island where we are from, not many people were playing it or interested in it at first. It soon picked up, and we had a nice little scene going on for a while. We felt it was a natural progression from Djing to production, and we felt that our music needed to be heard by people.
How did it feel when you were asked to be part of legendary label Boka?It was great. When you look at the back catalogue on that label, having other artists such as Distance, Tunnidge, Emalkay and The Others just to name a few, makes us proud to have a forthcoming record on Boka. It’s a pleasure to be added to the list of artists who’ve had releases on the label.
Do you feel that ‘Haterz’ being on Getdarker’s ‘This Is Dubstep Vol.3’ has helped you get more recognised and out there?Yeah I think it was a great look for us at the time. It was great to share a space on the CD with such established artists.
You have your own regular set on RoodFm alongside artists such as Goli & Ashburner, Perverse and Taiki & NUlight how does that feel? are you enjoying it?Yeah its a good little station. We joined Rood FM a while ago now when it was still relatively new. Its great that the station has an underground core of talent that is currently coming though.
Have you any releases being dropped soon people should watch out for?Yeah look out for two vinyl releases in January 2012. One on Boka and the other on Orientis Records.
